THE TRAINERS AT BEOWULF FARM

Beowulf Farm is proud to offer training for every level of riding for both dressage and hunter/jumpers.  All our coaches are highly qualified to assist both you and your horse to make riding more enjoyable and will ride your horse to address specific developmental issues.

JESSICA KELLNER

Jessica is a registered Trainer in Germany, and has taught students from children through adults, from beginner to advanced and has been involved in the starting and training of young horses.  She has an advanced degree in Agricultural Sciences and Engineering Studies, with a Major in Horse Breeding and Management.

Jessica is a Competition, Breed and Horse Show Judge in Germany and was a member of the German Commission for certifying breed judges.   For the past eight years, Jessica has worked with the German Equestrian Federation - Department of Breeding, and managed, among other things, the presentation of German Horse Breeding at the 2006 World Equestrian Championships.

Before this, she competed in dressage and schooled horses to the ‘M’ or fourth level dressage and up to 1.2 metres in jumping.  Jessica had the opportunity to train with many internationally successful riders at the German Equestrian Performance Centre, including her long-time trainer, a member of the German National Eventing Team who recently competed at the 2006 World Equestrian Championships in Aachen.

APRIL RAY

For the past six years, April has dedicated herself to the training and coaching. In 2000 April went to the Stonar Equestrian Center in England to work as a working student for one year. It was here that April achieved her British Horse Society Assistant Instructors Certification. After completing her certification, April embarked on the journey to Spruce Meadows to work as a groom. It was here that she was promoted to Apprentice Trainer, which let her show and train Spruce Meadows horses.

In 2003, April returned to Victoria, BC and managed Victoria Saddlery as well as rode and trained privately for clients. In June 2005 April became the Farm Manager for Beowulf Farm. April trains and coaches students of various ages and levels with the youngest starting at six years. April's goal is to further the training of her clients to see their comfort grow in the saddle.
